week 25

Well it's week 25 and I'm feeling pretty much the same as last week. My belly of course if still growing!  Only two more weeks and I will be in my third and final trimester... which is INSANE!

I think it’s safe to say I am going to be huge.
I am feeling pretty good, mostly just enormously exhausted

About baby this week according to my sources:

From week 25 to 28, Baby Powell will be the average size and weight of an Eggplant (13.6-14.8 inches, 1.5 - 2.2 lbs).

An eggplant... wow! He's getting so big!

According to a baby website for this week it says: "Blood vessels of the lungs develop. Your baby's nostrils begin to open. The nerves around the mouth and lip area are showing more sensitivity now. Their swallowing reflexes are developing. Baby can hear sounds outside the womb and the brain cells are starting to mature also. Already it can learn and remember and can recognize its mother and fathers voice. The inner ear bones have hardened so hearing is more acute. Baby may hear your partner's voice more easily than yours, as baby is sensitive to a deeper pitch."
  • he's enjoying his new sense of equilibrium -- he now knows which way is up and which is down.
  • he's growing more fat and more hair too!
  • Bones are becoming solid, hands are now fully developed.
  • The brain is growing rapidly, the brain cells are starting to mature.
  • The sexual organs are fully developed.

Wow the baby has been busy getting big and developing this week.. it is just so amazing!

About me:

My belly is still super itchy and  this baby is still using my bladder as a trampoline.. which means I have to pee... A LOT!!
And I feel just swollen all over... I feel fat!
Anyways, I still feel him often and just love it! I am so thrilled and blessed to experience the miracle of pregnancy everyday. Yesterday Zach and I went to our first hypnobirthing class at the hospital...the fact that baby Powell is coming is becoming even more real! It was a great class, and loved the relaxation part of it! I know most of you think I am absolutely crazy (i think it about myself too.. wondering if I'm actually going to be able to do this!), but please keep those negative opinions to yourself, I am determine to have an all natural birth and I can only accomplish that with positive support from others.

If your curious as to what it is (hypnobirthing) you can watch these videos, the first video is kinda of long and intense.. it's the video our instructor had us watch..if you want the less intensece easier to understand video skip the first and watch the second.. it's a news report that did a great job explaining and showing what hypnobirthing is. So just watch the second video!

Basically hypno birthing is a method of relaxed, natural childbirth.  Unlike what you may think, hypnobirthing does not put you in a trans or put your mind in another place, you are actually fully aware and are just in the deepest form of relaxation and have complete control of your body. The birthing body (me)  and the baby know just what to do. HypnoBirthing is designed to teach women to trust in Nature's way of birth and to relax and let their bodies do what is needed. By practicing a few key techniques, mothers program their minds and condition their bodies to birth easily.

I am so glad I had that class yesterday because earlier in the week I found myself having a slight panic attack thinking about the baby, delivery and becoming a mom. I guess it's all these hormones because I started really freaking out, wondering if I could really do this. I was crying for hours wondering if I actually pull of a natural birth.. and if I'm going to be a good mom...Pretty scary stuff.. I keep having all of these "what if" thoughts, my emotions are really getting the best of me lately! But I am determined, and just have to remember to believe in myself... which is sometimes hard to do. The class helped to relax me, and it was nice to see other pregnant moms and to know that I'm not the only "crazy" person that wants to do a natural childbirth.

About my week:

Well this week I have been off for spring break! Woohoo, Zach and I went to a couple parks to get our walking in.. it's so nice! We went to ceaser's creek, and I totally lost my breath going up a big hill, it makes me feel like I am so out of shape.. I hate that feeling! Zach basically had to push me up to keep going haha.

I bet some of you are wondering about the name.. I think a couple of blogs ago I said I was going to announce the name at week 25.. but after talking to Zach we decided to still continue to wait. Sorry!! It's killing me not to tell, but I will soon,  once I'm in my third trimester sometime.. Zach really wants it to be a secret until the end.. I want it to be a surprise for some people but also want to tell others, and I know that wont work, so we are waiting just a little longer.
How about a compromise...I will announce right now what our top TWO names are!

Our top two names:

Brady Andrew Powell
Dylan Andrew Powell

So one of the names above is THE name. You can guess if you want but I will not be announcing the name until later, I'm not sure when just yet! By the way Andrew is Zach's middle name and we found that it went with almost every name, pretty cool, the baby and daddy will have the same middle name :)

Which name do you think we chose? Hmmm.

Well I guess that's about it for this week.. check in next week when the baby is the lenghth of an English cucumber!
